  • World’s scariest job? Meet the workers building a 3ft-wide wooden road on a vertical cliff face

If you suffer from vertigo, look away now.

While some people would find it unbearable to go anywhere near the edge of a cliff, these Chinese workers are building a 3ft-wide road made of wooden planks on the face of one that’s thousands of feet high.

Once finished, it is hoped sightseers will flock to here to edge along and admire the views.

The ‘road’ – the width of a dinner table – they’re assembling is on Shifou Mountain in Hunan Province and stands vertical at 90 degrees without any slopes or alcoves.

What’s more, the from China’s eastern Jiangxi Province toil away on it with what appear to be few if any safety measures.

Don’t look down: Teetering on the edge this builder inspects his handiwork. When finished the road will stretch for 1.8 miles, making it China¿s longest sightseeing path

I can see for miles: This worker reaches out to tighten the scaffolding on the ‘road’ which is the width of a dinner table

The long drop: Once the path is built, the question is how many sightseers will actually want to walk along it?

The scene is a terrifying one for those from health and safety conscious nations such as ours. The planks look distinctly thin and rickety and a fall to certain death is just inches away – but this doesn’t appear to faze the workers who toil away fearlessly every day.

When finished the road will stretch for 1.8 miles, making it China’s longest sightseeing path.

The question that many people will be asking is: Who will be brave enough to walk around it once it’s finished?

  • Rhino Stabs At Male Lion With Its Horn

A lioness couldn’t resist trying to grab a massive rhino who came strolling by. But she quickly realized she couldn’t do it, so she abandoned her plans and left it up to her husband to deal with the angry rhino.
It didn’t work out for him either when the rhino tried to pierce him with its massive horn!!

Jordan Davidson has guided many safaris in the bush, but this sighting even took him by surprise during one of his recent game drives.

Lions are known to rest and relax during the middle of the day, and this day was no different for three big, and beautiful young lions. There were two females and a male specifically, and they’re all believed to be around five years old.

    The Scene of Confrontation

Everything seemed to be in place for another typical, fantastic, lion sighting. However, this time would prove to be more fruitful…

A rhino came strolling into the picture, looking for some fresh grass to graze on. Nothing had happened but just the rhino’s sheer size, and the presence of the two species being together, made it all so exciting.

Lions have a strong understanding of their limitations, and even for the three of them together, taking on a large white rhino would be a massive risk. Everyone on the safari could see this too, so, even with all the excitement, there wasn’t really any expectation of something more happening.

    The Anatomy of a Rhino

That was until the rhino walked right up to where the lions were relaxing! Rhinos don’t have the best eyesight, so it likely couldn’t see anything from far out, but the lions’ smell was suspicious for the rhino, so it kept investigating.

Eventually, the rhino was so close that it made one of the lionesses uncomfortable! She ran off and for good reason, the rhino could see clearly now and already had a defensive stance.

A Lesson in Respect for Nature

The second lioness had more of an opportunistic eye, as the rhino was chasing her sister away, she went into a pouncing position and waited for her shot. She didn’t have to wait long, as the rhino quickly decided that it would be best to make a U-turn and head the other way.

After launching for the rhino’s rump, it didn’t even take a second for the lioness to realize that she was in over her head. She immediately let go and abandoned ship, all the while, the now very grumpy rhino was turning around to face them.

With both lionesses out of the picture, the only thing that stood in the rhino’s way was the poor male lion! Having a stare down with an animal that is bigger than some family-sized cars can only be daunting, but amazingly the lion’s first instinct wasn’t to run!

No, the lion walked right up to the rhino to meet it head-on! This was unquestionably brave, but considering just how long the rhino’s horn was, it didn’t seem like the greatest of ideas.
Without much surprise, the male lion ended up learning the same lesson as the female just before him, but not before the rhino tried stabbing at it, twice! And only missing marginally both times!

Realizing how lucky he was, the lion bolted away into the bushes, and the rhino took the chance to run the other way, bringing one of the wildest lion and rhino interactions that we’ve seen to an end.

  • Leopard Fails Successfully

After catching the biggest impala it could find, this young leopard quickly learned that it had only completed half the job. Hoisting it into a tree was going to be another mission entirely! On its third try, it ends up failing in the most perfect way possible!

Vincent Adami is a nature enthusiast who visits Kruger as often as possible. He has spent countless hours in the bush, so he knew just how special this sighting was while filming it.

Earlier that morning, conditions were quite cool in the park, perfect for finding high-action sightings, and Vincent knew this. Staying at Shingwedzi Camp, he continued his safari south, along the H1-6.

It didn’t take long to spot something special! It was a young leopard, and it was lying next to a very recent catch. At that point, it was tricky to see just how impressive that catch was, but the leopard was visibly still exhausted from the hunt.

The Art of the Hunt: Where Things Go Wrong

It was also clear that the leopard had fed a little, and it was only a matter of a few moments before it would want to secure its meal in the safety of a tree.

After a few more pants, that’s exactly what happened. The leopard got up and started dragging the impala toward the nearest tree. That’s when Vincent could see just how big of a deal this was.

Compared to the leopard, the impala was huge! Just thinking about how the leopard managed to take the impala down was incredible, and watching it attempt to lift it into the tree was somehow even more impressive.

From Vincent’s perspective, the impala looked almost double the leopard’s size, and still, the leopard was inching its way into a tree with it. At no point did it make it very high up, but the strength it must have taken just to get to that point was downright amazing!

Vincent realized just how persistent the young leopard was, too. So determined to secure its catch, the leopard would try again right after each fall. It must have taken everything, but still, it kept going…

Defending Their Territory: The Cost of Failure

On its third attempt, the leopard dug deep, and somehow managed to crawl up as high as it had ever been! But, just as there was hope of reaching the first set of branches, the momentum shifted and the leopard had to let go of the impala!

It was heartbreak all over again for the leopard. However, this time it went a little differently! The impala didn’t come crashing to the ground as expected. No, instead, it hooked onto a stump poking out from the bottom of the tree, in the most perfect way!

Yes, it technically was a failure, but it was almost like a wildlife trick shot. Then, on top of that, the leopard then landed right next to the hooked impala, in the exact position for the two lock eyes!
Although the leopard never managed to hoist the impala, this doesn’t end sadly for the young predator! By a small miracle, hyenas never came round, and the leopard had the impala all to itself, feeding comfortably on the ground for the next two days.
